London: Now I See What All the Fuss is About

‘Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life for there is in London all that life can afford.’ Samuel Johnson

On January 20th almost a month after Christmas, I finally got to enjoy one of my presents. My boyfriend organised a trip to London for us to see Les Miserables on stage. I absolutely love being taken on trips away for Christmas. All the fuss and excitement has died down and the January blues begin to settle in, then you’ve a trip away to look forward to; it’s pretty awesome!

On Monday we went to see Les Miserables in Queen’s Theatre. I knew the acting standard was going to be pretty good but I’d no idea just how good. I had to keep reminding myself that these actors were live on stage because their performances were that flawless! Afterwards we took a wander around and found ourselves in M&M world; a whole TWO FLOOR shop dedicated to the sweets; pity I’m not a huge fan but it was nice to have a nosy. Our bellies seemed to lead us in our wandering as we wound up in Angus Steakhouse. Most of the restaurants over here are shut at 11 o’clock but not in London. All was in full swing and we were able to enjoy a full meal, which was delicious.

On Tuesday we made like proper little tourists and went sightseeing after having breakfast in bed. It was so nice being able to finally see all the places you hear so much about. We took some time out from sightseeing to go to Madame Tussauds; I know the whole point of the wax works is that they look life like but they were so freakily life like. Do you ever see the comedy shoes were they’ve got real celebrities in posing as the wax works then they jump at you? I was convinced this was going to happen to me. But all in all it was a fun experience, oh except when one of the medieval wax works eyes moved and scared the life out of me!

We then popped down to Oxford Street/Retail Heaven Street for some shopping. I hadn’t quite realised just how spectacular all the shops in London are. I remember walking in to River Island and think ‘oooooh, such pretty colours.’ The next time I’m back in London I have a feeling it will be solely to go shopping. We then popped back to the hotel and went for a swim, well I toddled about with my float and then relaxed in the jacuzzi. We ended the evening by ordering some late night room service.

I really enjoyed London and I absolutely can’t wait to go back! Have you ever been? Any hidden gems we need to know about?

Oh, did you see yesterday’s post? I’ve just launched an online jewellery store. Have a wee nosey and let me know what your favourite piece is on Lala’s Jewellery Box.
